A Healthy Eating Plan for a Healthy Living Lifestyle

In a lot of cases, people who actually DO want to start a healthy eating plan, simply have no idea where to start.  This is NOT such a big surprise. Most people are so set in their ways and so used to eating what they are eating that they don’t even realize the foods that are available, which ones to eat, which ones to stay away from, etc.  Sadly, our world is all about fast food these days.  If you want to live healthy and happy, eating fast food every single day is not going to help you accomplish that goal!

In most instances when it comes to a healthy eating plan you will hear one phrase being used a lot: If it’s green eat it. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to eat greens, broccoli, and spinach all day long… every single day! That would get boring in about a week. When it comes to a healthy eating plan getting bored quickly is not the best option. When people get bored, they quit! Also, there are some green things you might not expect to be good for you and yet they are.

Take avocados for instance. These are VERY fattening, but they offer healthy/good fats! Most people don’t know about this. Frankly, I love the fact that I can eat these as a snack! In order to follow a healthy eating plan correctly so that you can start losing weight, getting in shape and feeling healthier, you should also consider these healthy eating tips:

- Eating high fiber foods. This isn’t just bran like everyone assumes. There are also a lot of foods such as raw salad greens, dried fruit and of course beans that have high fiber contents. You can also eat high fiber cereal, pasta, bread, etc. Make sure you eat these foods moderately!

- A healthy eating plan should include exercise! Researchers say if you walk for at least 30 minutes a day it will help you lose weight. Park your car a few parking spots more away than you usually would. Take your dog for a walk. Take your kid to the park. Walk to the grocery store if you just have to get a few things.

- Cut back on foods that are bad for you. These foods include: dairy, sweets, partially hydrogenated veggie oils, foods high in cholesterol, high in salt, etc. Also, when it comes to meats, try to choose a part of the animal that is lean and has less fat on it. I know, fat is yummy goodness, but if you want to follow a healthy eating diet plan correctly, these are the things you will have to do!

The whole point to a healthy eating plan is to give your body the nutrients it needs while staying within your calorie goal for the day or for the week. However, if you slip up, don’t punish yourself, don’t quit eating healthy just because you fell off the wagon. This is new to you, and new things take time to get used to!
